This was the best bike store I visited. So many bike stores are very pretentious and make you feel bad if you don’t know everything about biking. This place got me the perfect bike for what I was looking for at a very reasonable price. Very knowledgeable staff who are ready to help you out and not look down on you because your style of biking might differ from theirs. Also, I love my new bike!

I bought a bike elsewhere, and asked Al’s if they would assemble it for me. Rather than give me attitude or doing a half-assed job because I didn’t purchase from them, they did a great, fast job, and even went the extra mile. The wheels were badly out of true, and I got a call explaining that there’d be an extra charge, if I wanted them trued. The price was reasonable, and the fact that they called before just going ahead and charging me was so impressive, that they’ve made a customer for life. Knowledgeable, friendly staff, and a great dog, too.

I had been looking for a new touring bike for a couple of weeks, but I was having trouble finding a shop that could give some good advice
and suggestions. I found what I was looking for at Al’s!
When I walked into Al’s I felt comfortable right away, I was greeted by his wife, who was very friendly. Though the bike I was specifically looking for wasn’t in stock, Al worked with me and after test riding 3 different bikes he was able to tell me that the model I was originally looking at would work for me.
I also never felt that he was trying to sell me something that was beyond my price range to make a buck. He knows his stuff and as a said before was very helpful.
Anyone who is looking for a new bike should go here!

The last time I owned a bike in NYC it was in the 1990’s and after parking it on the street for two weeks I went to go retrieve it for a ride and found the a frame sans wheels and the chain still clamped to a lampost. Lovely. That ended my brief stint with alternative transportation solutions until 2009.
I decided to test the waters again and rented a bike for two consecutive weekends and fell in love with the prospect of riding again. One ride on Govenor’s Island and one on the Hudson River Greenway and I was hooked. Time to buy a bike again. Still smarting from my last experience I vowed to get a full size Dahon folder that I could stow in my apartment. My yelp did me right.
Al’s Cycle Solutions not only had the Dahon I wanted in stock but they answered every idiotic question including “What do I do with the gears?” without a hint of sarcasm or rolling of the eyes. Al and his staff spent over 45 minutes with me getting to know my new machine. I am a handful and they had the patience of Mother Teresa.
Fair prices, customer service to die for and a friendly, supportive atmosphere.
It was worth the trip from the Village. I actually rode from Midtown home on my new baby. Al’s made it worth the trip (even though my butt hurts but that was to be expected after 10 years).

Excellent selection and informed service. I could tell when I stopped in that the shop was very serious about giving me the best value for my money. They also rent bikes and sell kids’ gear. I worry about independent businesses like this being able to survive in this economy. Go support them.

Great service… They speak french and are very friendly. Great bikes and can order anything for you. Very professional and they know what they are talking about.

I recently completed a triathlon in New Jersey and rented a fantastic bike from Al. Not only did he take the time to make sure I was fitted perfectly on the bike but he and his great wife were truly interested in the event I participated in and wished me heartfelt “good lucks”.
Not only are they very professional but warm, genuine people. I highly recommend this shop for any bike needs you may have.

Found Al’s cycle solutions on SE’s website. I was looking for an SE Lager in white and they had one in stock in my size.
When I walked in I felt very comfortable right away with a laid back cool atmosphere with absolutely no pressure to buy. They let me take the bikes out for a spin with no hassle.
I shopped around for the best price and these guys had the lowest price and great selection of bikes in stock. The guys that work there know their bikes and tuned up the bike and double checked everything.
I would definitely go back here and recommend to everyone!

I went to Al’s Cycle Solutions. It was brand new and clean. Friendly service, great price.
If only the cheap sexy foldable bikes could be affordably brought on a plane, I would have taken one. But airline regulations suck.
Instead, I got a shiny new rental bike for the day and had a blast in Central Park.

Highly recommended! Al really knows his stuff, and it’s clear he has no interest in over-selling just to make a quick buck. They repaired my bike quickly and for a very reasonable price.
